I have a kubota B2400 and when under a moderate load the front drive slips and makes a noise like a spline or gear is not engaging properly. When load is removed it engages and begins pulling again... Any idea of the problem and/or scope of repair needed?

I have had a B-2400 for 11 years now and the only thing I can relate your problem to is your 4 wheel drive may not be fully engaged. I had similar(but not exactly) results one time and found out my 4 wheel drive had moved out a little. I always leave mine in.
Just a thought.

There are no slip clutches used on many of the compacts yours included! Many of the larger ag style tractors do have slip clutches to absorb shock load as well as over load to the drive train. I'd locate the noises location and we can more then likely help solve the problem. Does your tractor have bi-speed turn? ....

Yes it does have the bi-speed turn option...and it seems to work fine.....the 4wd does not make any noise or vibration other that when it slips under the heavy load. ....

I have a B2400 and noticed the same slip under load, and upon thoroughly cleaning the transfer case connection area, discovered a crack in the housing, then I immediately removed the complete front end, cleaned it more to show any more defects, discovered I was lucky enough to not have broke or worn the gears, repaired the broken housing with the aid of a buffer, grinder,& mig, reassembled, refilled with lube and tested with more rugged KABOTA typical usage, that was 2 years ago,,,, and my Bota is still performing as it should.
Hope this helps.

I assume you are refering to where the drive tube connects to the trans, i will check for any cracks. Thanks for your input on this problem. I love my 2400, it is a great machine. ....
